The chassis and handling qualities of our Lotuses are well known, and, with the latest CUP260 evolutions of the S2, the engine compartment has also reached a remarkable level, further improved with the Exige V6. Unfortunately, the original shifter has never lived up to expectations, and one of the weak points is precisely the shifter turret (engine mounts and shift cables are also points that deserve an upgrade). Dolomiti Shifter was created to maximize the driving experience of one’s Lotus. The materials used to make it, such as Ergal 7075 or AISI 316L stainless steel, are just one example of the concept behind the design: only the best without any compromise. The whole assembly is designed to ensure maximum rigidity and precision. The large Ergal plate provides a wide base of support to limit bending of the car floor; to achieve absolute rigidity it is possible to add 4 attachment points to the floor. The mechanism is fully mounted on bearings for a phenomenal “zero backlash & zero friction” combination. Lever return to the middle position is managed by a simple but ingenious “twin-spring” solution that ensures high feedback. Dolomiti Shifter is equipped with shift lever travel adjustment (both forward/reverse and right/left directions) that, starting from stock conditions, allows a travel reduction up to about -20%: each rider can choose the configuration that best suits his riding style. Finally, design has always gone hand in hand with technical development, resulting in a product that some customers have called “an artwork”.
